The Asian Grocery store and Traders Joes

I went to the Asian grocery store for the first time today- the environment was pretty poor- it smelt like smoke and was freezing (the cashiers were all wearing their winter jackets)- however they had much better prices on a bunch of stuff then going to the asian section of the regular supermarket plus i had a much easier time finder the spices i was looking for. I got a lot of asian noodles, coconut oil, seseme oil, chile oil, some frozen asian food- vegetable dumplings, vegetable rools and some other stuff to try, as well as a bunch of spices and coconut milk. I spent 40 dollars. Then I went to traders Joes for the first time today as well, the environment of the store was much cleaner and nicer. I was impressed with their food and many things were good priced although some stuff was over priced.  I got soy cheese (pretty good tasting), tofu italian sausage (not very good), sprouted bread 2 loaves, some other types of tofu meat, coconut milk, pineapple tidbits frozon 2 bags, mango chunks frozen, peach salsa, 2 bags of chips one was flax seed and black bean and the other was something similar, chickpeas 3 cans, some more spices, and some other stuff and spent 48 dollars.

Meal plan

schezwan  noodles with vegetables
chickpea curry- already made this- it was alright not a bag fan of the beans but now we have leftovers
grilled cheese and vegetables and avocado sandwhich
spanich salad with gorgonzo cheese
asian stir fry with noodles cooked in coconut oil
pasta and vegetables with mango tomato sauce

Frozon Foods
dumplings
vegetable rolls
plus a couple of other frozon asian things to try

plus the husband has frozen pizza and ice cream cones he insisted on getting

Breakfast
omelets
peanut butter and banana on sprouted bread

snacks
apple and carmel
chips and peach salsa
dark chocolate
pineapple and coconut milk smoothie
sweet potato chips

Eating Healthy

I am trying to change our diet to be primary plant based, I already don't eat meat- the husband does but mostly only when we eat out since I don't buy it and I do almost all the grocery shopping, I am trying to reduce dairy- drink coconut or almond milk, although I am not giving up all dairy since I am a huge fan of cheese, reduce the amount of white flour products we use. For the past couple of weeks I have being going to Aldi's which has produce for super cheap and I stock up and I have been cooking a ton of vegetables. I am going to check out Traders Joe's and the asian grocery store to try to get some healthier/unique stuff to try cooking with. I changed to only using real butter seveal months or longer ago because I heard the lower fat fake butters/margarine are full of chemicals. I also will be looking for coconut oil to cook with which has been shown to be awesome for you. I am trying to dramatically reduce our processed food intake. However, I will not be completely cutting anything out or making it off limits because I feel if I do that it will cause me to never stick with it.

I am trying to focus on a lot of anti-cancer foods. In the past couple of months I have been also focusing on adding garlic to a lot of my cooking due to its health benefits.

I made up this recipe today which came out great:

1. green cabbage
2. onions
3. bella mushrooms
4. mango
5. pears
6. sweet potato
dice and saute and cook in butter for about 1/2 hour

add diced canned tomatoes, cream, about a tablespoon or two of sugar and a little salt and cook for another 5-10 minutes.

Next time I am going try replacing the cream with something a little healthier and hopefully vegan. But overall I thought this tasted awesome and was a ton of veggies and fruits and no carbs.

Blah Mood

I am in such a blah mood today, got only about two hours of paperwork/cleaning done all day. I feel so lazy and in a crappy mood. Not sure why. I have been sitting on the computer for hours today reading blogs, etc. Hopefully tomorrow will be a more productive day.

Goals for week of 3/10

I updated on last weeks goal page and suceeded at about half of them. I do find putting the goals there keeps me more motivated to do them so I will keep doing what is working.

This week
 Run 3x 3 miles

3/11- ran/walked with a friend for 49 minutes prob about 30 minutes of running and 19 minutes of walking- going guess about 4 miles total
3/12- ran/walked with the dog in the pouring rain took me like 38 minutes to go my almost 3 mile route because I was not feeling the excercising today.
3/13- ran for a little over 20 minutes with friend then walked for 25 minutes- estimated  milage 3.5 miles

Get whole house looking cleaning instead of deep cleaning this week I am going to focus on having a clean looking house by the weekend which should only take about an hour of two of generally straightening up, sweeping floor, steam mopping, putting away some clutter etc.

-swept and steamed the kitchen and downstairs bath
-cleaned the upstairs bathroom
-cleaned up the kitchen counters

Pluck my eyebrows (I hate doing this!)
tried waxing my eyebrows with a wax kit I got for free (and made money on) with coupons and rite aid up rewards. It worked okay, but I prob should do some more plucking to clean them up more.

Have all laundry done and put away by weekend

Have bills sent out and office clean
- bills sent out is done
- office is clean!

JCPenny Clothing Deals

I got an e-mail with  coupons to JCPenny 10 off 25 dollars, so of course I had to go with all the good deals I get there since they changed their pricing strategy to just lower prices, however since people are not responding to that very well they sometimes issue coupons now which means even better deals for me. So today I found on clearance:

Nike pants for husband (in his size tall) $17
5 pairs of underwear $3x5=15
2 white long sleeve shirts $3x2= 6
white tank top $4 (not on clearance)
workout capris $12

then was able to use 2 $10 off coupons  so paid 35 dollars for everything.

3/5- 3 miles in 28 mins felt awesome and pushed myself- dog had trouble keeping up
3/6 2.4 miles felt pretty good- didn't time myself ran to farm
3/8- shoveling for about 7-8 hours (we were out for a total of about 13 hours- but some with driving from place to place)
3/9- 3 miles in about 29 minutes

Almost reached goal except for the one shorter run and the 3 mile loop is closer to 2.9 miles after measured it.

deep clean/organize for a total of 1 hour

3/6- spent about an hour folding laundry, clearing clutter from bedroom, sweeping, steam mopping, washing down surfaces, washing the sheets and duvets and folding laundry- counting it as 15 mins of deep cleaning
